What Is a Multi Bet?

A multi bet (also called a parlay or accumulator) combines two or more individual selections into a single wager. All selections must win for the bet to pay out, but the combined odds are multiplied together, creating the potential for much larger returns from a small stake. How Multi Bet Odds Are Calculated

The combined odds of a multi bet are found by multiplying the decimal odds of each individual selection together. For example, three selections at $1.80, $2.00, and $1.50 give combined odds of 1.80 × 2.00 × 1.50 = $5.40. A $10 bet at combined odds of $5.40 would return $54 (including your $10 stake) if all three selections win.

Each additional leg increases the potential payout exponentially, but it also decreases the probability of winning. A single bet at $2.00 has a 50% implied probability of winning. A four-leg multi where each selection is $2.00 has combined odds of $16.00, but the implied probability drops to just 6.25%. This risk-reward trade-off is what makes multi bets exciting but also challenging to win consistently.

Multi Bet Strategies

While multi bets offer the allure of big payouts, they are statistically harder to win than single bets. The bookmaker’s margin compounds with each leg, meaning the house edge on a multi is greater than on any individual selection. For this reason, professional bettors generally prefer single bets or small two- to three-leg multis.
