Multi Bet Calculator
What Is a Multi Bet?
A multi bet (also called a parlay or accumulator) combines two or more individual selections into a single wager. All selections must win for the bet to pay out, but the combined odds are multiplied together, creating the potential for much larger returns from a small stake. Multi bets are popular among Australian sports bettors for AFL, NRL, cricket, and horse racing.
Our multi bet calculator lets you enter the odds for each leg of your multi and instantly see the combined odds and potential payout. Add as many selections as you like and adjust your stake to see how the return changes.
How Multi Bet Odds Are Calculated
The combined odds of a multi bet are found by multiplying the decimal odds of each individual selection together. For example, three selections at $1.80, $2.00, and $1.50 give combined odds of 1.80 × 2.00 × 1.50 = $5.40. A $10 bet at combined odds of $5.40 would return $54 (including your $10 stake) if all three selections win.
Each additional leg increases the potential payout exponentially, but it also decreases the probability of winning. A single bet at $2.00 has a 50% implied probability of winning. A four-leg multi where each selection is $2.00 has combined odds of $16.00, but the implied probability drops to just 6.25%. This risk-reward trade-off is what makes multi bets exciting but also challenging to win consistently.
Multi Bet Strategies
While multi bets offer the allure of big payouts, they are statistically harder to win than single bets. The bookmaker’s margin compounds with each leg, meaning the house edge on a multi is greater than on any individual selection. For this reason, professional bettors generally prefer single bets or small two- to three-leg multis.
If you enjoy multi betting, consider keeping your selections to three or four legs to maintain a reasonable strike rate. Focus on selections where you believe the true probability is higher than the odds imply — this is where value lies. Avoid adding short-priced favourites just to boost the odds, as they still introduce risk without adding meaningful value. Our calculator helps you visualise the impact of each leg on your overall return and make informed decisions.
